Adult Development and Aging

eeing follow up progress from some amazing collaborations in our great communities has helped provide feelings of accomplishment! This month has provided opportunities for volunteer cultivation and continued new collaborations for me…..and I love it! Here are some examples of those relationships and progress.

Keys to Embracing Aging—Collaboration Across the District

There is a misconception that you must be super mobile to be physically activite. Our group of Highland Meadows residents practiced some small joint, leg, and arm exercises all in the comfort of their chair! This program also left all participants with a smile on their face and a sense of accomplishment.

At another senior housing in Labette County where we present the Keys curriculum, I utilized our very own financial expert, Kylie Ludwig. Kylie provided practical information for working with a budget on a fixed income. Our foods and nutrition expert, Barbara Ames, will be presenting next month!

Garden Anywhere: Follow Up Success

After hearing the Container Gardening presentation with Age Well Task Force and Horticulture Agent, Jacob Weber, Wesley House set out for donations, resources, and produce for community members in Crawford County. Local store, In the Garden, donated vegetable plants for the efforts which where given to people with information on how to grow healthy produce at home. Wesley House also created herb gardens to provide fresh seasoning for families along with recipe ideas from the Wildcat Extension District.
