his month I learned a lot about livestock judging, something I never participated in while I was a 4-H member. I was able to take youth and assist with Keith Martin’s three-day livestock judging camp for the Wildcat District. We had a great turn out! The following week I traveled with the livestock judging team to the Big 3 Livestock Judging Contest in Stillwater, OK. All our hard work at livestock judging camp paid off and the youth came home with several awards!
Outside of livestock judging, we had a variety of events this month! The Southeast District Horse Show was at the beginning of July and ran smoothly thanks to the host of agents present. Next I worked on a fundraising project with O’Malley Implement of Pittsburg and I am excited to see the impact we will make during the county fair. I have also been collaborating with Pittsburg Public Library to host a Lego building contest during our fair! We are excited to offer these new opportunities and appreciate the strong support we get from the community.
Before Crawford County Fair activities were in full swing, I attended the 4-State Farm Show to work my allotted time. I enjoyed visiting with community members and neighbors that ventured by our booth. Our fair officially starts in July with foods, clothing, arts and crafts, and photography judging. We also held two clean-up days and an ice cream making day! If you were in the area August 2-5, I hope you stopped by the Crawford County Fair for a cup of homemade ice cream made by our 4-H members!
