4-H Youth Development
istrict Horse Show started the month off at the Parsons State Hospital indoor arena. We have 11 counties involved in the Southeast show. I serve as the chair, and each agent has a specific job they do to help put it on. We are very appreciative of Steve McKinzie and the people who help from the State Hospital as well as the great facilities we are able to utilize.
A 4-H member needed to finish up her constructed garment, so I set up a day to help her complete it. She was very happy with the outcome and as a first sewing project for her – so was I. She did a great job!
This past month, Kylie and I organized a Wildcat Wednesday segment. The focus of this segment was sewing camp in Altamont. Several youth joined Kylie and I to talk about what they learned and to showcase what they made. There is a link included to watch the KOAM-TV segment on this.
Fair has begun with the foods and clothing judging in Altamont. We had great items to taste test and beautiful outfits to view.
Pittsburg 4-State Farm Show was kicked off on Friday, July 21. I was able to connect with people attending this event to share information about K-State Research and Extension. The weather was hot, but people still come to this great event to view the latest in agriculture techniques.
