s the temperature begin to increase so do the activities. This has been an exciting month filled with a wide variety of activities. The Crawford Junior leaders had a very successful Pancake and Sausage Feed. The Junior leaders had a great time learning to make the sausage by hand. The youth were responsible for mixing, stuffing, and prepping the sausage the day before. This was not only a great fundraising opportunity for the youth, but it also provided opportunities that helped to develop the youth’s communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. This fundraiser helps youth not only to invest in their community through service projects but also in themselves through leadership development.

Regional 4-H Club Day was also held in March. This event brings together youth from across the Southeast Kansas area to compete in a variety of areas. Youth competed in a variety of areas such as talks, demonstrations, public speaking, vocal, instrumental, parliamentary procedure, dances, and skits.

New collaboration also took place for me with Pittsburg State University’s Therapeutic Recreation Students. I presented for a class of students about all the wonderful opportunities and programs that K-State Research and Extension has to offer in the Wildcat District. The collaboration continued with the students in helping to facilitate a program at their TR-iffic Day Field Day. This program is designed to provide activities for people from all walks of life.

I also completed Programming with a Purpose this month as part of my new agent professional development. This training provided me with the opportunity learn and grow with colleagues across the state. I was also able to team up with other Wildcat District agents to present topics during Ag Day at the Girard Public Library. We also held another successful STEM camp at Fab Lab ICC. Look for more information on our activities next month!
