Small Business: Big Ideas
The Wildcat Extension District is hosting the first in a series of four workshops entitled Small Business: Big Ideas. This workshop series focuses on providing resources and networking opportunities for small business owners. The first workshop will kick off on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, and will be held from 9:30 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Small Business: Big Ideas will be held at the Southeast Research and Extension Center, which is located on 25092 Ness Road in Parsons, KS. RSVP’s for the sponsored conference luncheon are being accepted through Thursday, April 5. The conference is free for all in the region who own and operate a small business or interested in becoming an entrepreneur. This series is presented in an effort to support small businesses, provide business tools, highlight avenues to sell products in new markets, and a venue to network and learn from their peers. The ever-changing dynamics in the business world leads to the need for continued growth and learning, both as a business owner and a professional in the working world.
There is no cost to attend this workshop, which includes a catered luncheon sponsored by Labette Bank.
The day begins with registration and light refreshments at 9:30 a.m., followed by introductions and kick-off of event at 10:00 a.m. The day is scheduled to conclude by 3:00 p.m. Opening the meeting is Mindy Lee from the Small Business Development Center at Pittburg State University, followed by Katie Allen, owner of Parker Kate Media. After lunch, the focus will be on business management/owners who will be discussing selling products through third-party vendors including Amazon, how they utilize social media, and other creative strategies they have utilized to grow their business. Speakers include Andy McClenon of Hugo’s Industrial Supply, Shelly Decker of Ranchin’ Misfits, and Stephanie Reitemeier of Upscale County. Heather Morgan will also share how Project 17 can help your business with marketing. You do not want to miss this opportunity to learn from experts in our area.
