Visiting Historic Deerfield , a 2 hour drive west of Boston, is like stepping into a picture postcard of life in Colonial America. Rolling along Old Main Street under arched canopies of vibrant rustling leaves you may well believe that you've become a time-traveler visiting a prosperous New England farming village in the 1800's.

Historic Deerfield is a living museum with more than 15 preserved buildings and homes that tell the story of life in the Pioneer Valley from the town's founding in 1677 to prosperous farming days in the 1800s.

What makes a visit to Deerfield so fascinating is that tales of the areas families have been preserved along with the buildings and furnishings. Life has not always been picture perfect in this valley as evidenced by artifacts from an Indian raid in 1704 that saw 100 of the town's settelers kidnapped and taken to Canada. But today Deerfield is a charming immersion into America's founding days.
