Accountability Policy
Policy Context The National Compliance and Enforcement Policy states that one of the key principles underpinning the activities of regulators is accountability.
The Policy provides an example of accountability – the willingness to explain decisions and having avenues for compliant or appeal regarding these decisions.
Accountability is not only required by the National Compliance and Enforcement Policy but is an essential attribute of all public servants. WHSD staff are expected to demonstrate accountability as part of their commitment to the Safety Return to Work and Support Division’ s corporate values.
The government and community entrust regulatory authorities with significant regulatory powers and with a certain level of independence in decision making – by demonstrating accountability WHSD staff honours that trust.
