When God Calls a

Veterinarian

“ It’ s great that you want to be a missionary. We’ re excited you called us,”

the recruiter said warmly.“ What do you do professionally?”

“ I’ m a veterinarian.”

There was a long pause.

It was the kind of silence that spoke volumes. The recruiter was trying to picture how an animal doctor could fit into a mission organization known for sending teachers, pastors, and church planters. But what follows is a story that challenges assumptions and motivates potential missionaries to see their careers as tools for the kingdom.
