Early
intervention
during
settlement
Objective: Through early intervention in the settlement
process and in increasing the capacity of services to respond in
the early stages of settlement, the model will address stressors
often experienced during settlement that impact negatively on
the ability to maintain equal/respectful relationships.
Key achievements in 2014

VLA Settled & Safe training handed over to Whittlesea Community Connections legal and
settlement teams.
Funding secured to develop and deliver adapted Settled & Safe training with Iranian
community as part of Our Watch project.
Future: Development and delivery of pilot training program with Iranian community, with
learnings used to inform delivery of this training with other communities in Whittlesea.
Funding will be sought to do so.

Objective: A ‘whole of school’ approach piloted to promote
respectful and equitable relationships with the intention of
future transferability to other schools and non-school settings.
Key achievements in 2014

Preliminary discussions with Northern CASA to develop primary school whole of
school respectful relationship and gender equality program for delivery in high-CALD
population primary school.
Membership of DVRCV’s Partners-in-Prevention Primary and Secondary Networks.
Multiple funding submissions made for ‘Respectful Relationships and Gender Equality’
primary whole of school program
Future: Continue to explore avenues to fund schools program
