My Disease

Here it is listening to my jam

That affliction has apprehended my whole being

And I am okay with letting it win

It has captivated me from birth

Like a mountain, snow at the crown

The sun on the horizon and my feet strolling

down the streets

Contemplating the coming of the cusp that

credits itself in my death

Forbidden it is for this disease to defeat such being

Surrendering to it and embracing what dwells deep inside of me

Embarrassed, NOT, for being straightforward and appreciating warmth, comfort

Sharing, romancing, sexual desires and fantasies, daydreaming of things that may never be

But existing and embracing my disease and unapologetically relinquishing self

To uncontrollable captivity in charming you

Comfortable in my skin, let you accept this flesh and all that lies endogenous

determination. I organized the NY YES WE WILL rally for the Obama Administration's youth and young adult liaison when he ran for his first term, was nominated in 2010 for the Leading Women Entrepreneur of NJ, and have been working with several television networks for my own reality show.

How has being a member of Alpha Psi Kappa

helped shape your life?

APsi has helped me in some of the biggest ways without even realizing it! When I pledged in 2008, one of my LB's became one of the managing members of my company 1stLaw Network, LLC. She still today remains a vital part of our company and one of my closest friends even though we have never met. My June Rush album was completed because of an investment from our Bruh MAXimus! I would not have been able to put it out this year if it wasn't for her. Plus, I have gained so much support from PNK and KPsi with my music which helps me remain true, because it keeps me grounded and reminds me that their are women just like me as well as men, who are striving to make a difference. It not only motivates me, but it feels good to know Im not alone in my endeavors.

What are you currently on?

My 2 main focuses are pushing my debut album June Rush to the 5,000 sale mark, so I can finally get the support from the majors and working to open the LGBT emergency shelter that Pi Colony recently acquired.

How did you come up with your name?

My music name is Serenityaka TDB. Serenity was given to me by members of the Black Panther Party and Mosque #24 in Richmond, VA because my music and my public speaking about my life experiences brought peace to others, also it is a reminder of what I am trying to achieve and maintain in my own life. TDB stands for Troi Da Boi after the little girl in the movie Crooklyn, which was given to me by the kids in my neighborhood.

They said there was a physical and personality resemblance to her. I just added the names together to legally separate myself from the many artists and bands by the name of Serenity. My fraternal name is D'PSIpher, which was given to me by my MC Kommon DemeNsion, because i figure things out easily. As Webster would say, "To discover the meaning of (anything obscure or difficult to trace or understand).
