Give us some information about your business?

I am currently in a partnership with Poppy’s Liquors and I am also sole proprietor of Kitty’s Events where I do alcohol services for private events in South Carolina.

How did you get started in your business?

My family has several clubs, Mom and Pop Stores and Liquor Stores throughout South Carolina so with the wealth of knowledge sitting at the dinner table on a regular it was quite easy to take the jump into a few business ventures with my family.

What advice would you give anyone looking to start their own business?

The first would be to think ahead. I always look into the future of any situation and do an analysis of the good and bad. And of course follow your dream. Don’t be scared to take chances.

What have been your greatest joys and challenges since launching your own business?

The greatest joy is being close with my brother and knowing that I always have him by my side, good or bad. The challenge comes into balancing my time. I am very active in my Sons life and so I had to pull away from a lot of the hands on activities.

What lessons learned from Phi Nu do you bring to your business?

The biggest lesson would be dedication. As much as I am dedicated to the mission of my Sisterhood I put that same amount of passion into my business affairs to maintain my home.

How has the org. changed you?

I would say that it took time for the Org. to change me. It wasn’t an immediate rebirth for me as it has been for many. But through trial and error and learning from my mistakes and of course age and advancing in the Organization I have learned to become a better person and to be the Sister that my Sisters expect me to be.
