Sarah Borgelt is a junior at Shelby High School. She wrote a few short stories, including “Kidnapped in France.” She enjoys photography, writing, reading, music, and musical theater. Sarah is also an equestrian. She enjoys spending time in nature. She is involved in several school activities: Whippet Tales 2.0, choir, Melloettes, and Math League. She hopes to be writing even more articles next year.

Rachel Brumenschenkel is a senior who is the co-founder of Whippet Tales 2.0. She is also the co-editor (previously copy editor) of Scarlet “S” Yearbook and the co-captain of the Varsity Girls Golf Team. Math League, Key Club, and St. Mary’s SLAM Youth Group are some clubs in which she is also involved. Rachel has won numerous writing awards, including Scholastic Awards and Mindsprouts. Her favorite authors are F. Scott Fitzgerald and Charlotte Bronte. After graduation, she plans on majoring in communications and marketing through the Honors Program at the University of Mount Union. Besides writing novels, Rachel loves to compose music, play the piano, and listen to music by Mayday Parade and The Maine.

Sara Bryan is a junior who loves life! She believes that there is nothing greater than life. She lives it to the fullest and never gives up. Sara works during the summer at JC Dari Bar. She played tennis and threw in track her freshman year. Sara has big plans for when she graduates: she wants to be a pediatrician. She is currently undecided on a college but has some narrowed down. Sara loves the show Sons of Anarchy and loves spending time with her friends.

Veronica Dannemiller is a proud senior of SHS. She loves to write, and her dream is to become a published author. She started the new year with a great start —she finished one of her novels, which she is now in the process of editing. Veronica plans to go to college at The Ohio State University in Mansfield, where she plans to study psychology and English. She plans to counsel people with emotional challenges, such as people who are feeling suicidal or facing difficult decisions. Veronica’s goal is to change the world, even if she is only able to help one person. As Helen Keller once said, “I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.”

Maggie Gray is a junior who has loved writing since she was young. She participated in Power of the Pen when she was in middle school, and she has enjoyed taking creative writing classes. Over the past year, Maggie has had two poems published in anthologies and hopes to continue this. In the future, she would love to have a personal collection of poems published. Maggie also wishes to become an art therapist, as she enjoys psychology as well as painting, drawing, and photography.

Macie Korbas plans on attending the University of Akron next fall to study either foreign languages or fashion. During high school, she is involved in cross country, track, indoor track, and weight lifting. Macie is also involved in many clubs: band, theatre, FCCLA, Key Club, Youth Praise Team, Choir, Melloettes, and SLAM Youth Group.

Rachael Stroup is a co-editor of Scarlet “S” Yearbook and a four-year member of the swim team. She is also active in Math League and Quiz Team, as well as youth group and worship team at the First Church of God. Rachael works as a lifeguard year-round. In her spare time, she loves to read all forms of literature. Rachael plans to attend OSU (Mansfield) after graduation to become an English teacher.
