STANLEY PARK Vancouver’s 400-ha
(1,000-acre) park was named for Lord
Stanley in 1888 when he was Governor
General of Canada. Locals and visitors
get back to nature, walking, biking or
blading the 8.8-km (5.5-mi) seawall
and taking in spectacular scenery.
Major park attractions include the
Vancouver Aquarium, rose garden,
totem poles, Lost Lagoon and Siwash
Rock (year-round). Horse-drawn tours

VANDUSEN BOTANICAL GARDEN
This scenic 22-ha (55-acre) garden
in the centre of Vancouver contains
native and exotic plants displayed
among rolling lawns, tranquil lakes and
woodlands. Seasonal features include
spring bulbs and rhododendrons, pe-
rennials, summer annuals and waterlil-
ies, heathers in late summer and an
autumn colour display. The Elizabethan
hedge maze is fun for kids and adults.
Large sculptures and fountains dot
the garden (year-round). Open daily.
