teams paddle around Lake
Ontario as part of this annual
event, which celebrates its 30th
anniversary this year. Athletes
from across Canada, the U.S.,
Europe, the Caribbean, and
Asia are set to take part in this
ancient sport, which started in
China more than 2,500 years
ago. As part of the family-
friendly festivities, catch lion
dances and other performances,

Pride Weekend Redpath Waterfront Festival

Pride Month kicks off June 1
with an official flag raising at City
Hall. There are events scheduled
all month long, including the
Dyke March, the Trans Pride
March, a street festival and
others, but the main draw is the
Pride Parade (June 24). This
much-anticipated celebration
of diversity and inclusion is
attended by more than a million
people each year. The procession
winds along Bloor Street through
the Gay Village centred at
Church and Wellesely and ends
at Yonge-Dundas Square. Various Head down to the shores of
Lake Ontario for a family-
friendly weekend. This annual
event features activities on land
as well as on the water, plus a
kid’s zone, an artisan market,
and a wine and spirit festival.
