Starts May 26 When the Museum of Contemporary Art — MOCA for short — closed its Queen Street location in 2015 , gallery-goers eagerly were left awaiting the opening of its new home . This May , MOCA re-opens its doors in a former industrial tower in the Junction Triangle , where it hosts exhibits and studio space for more than 20 artists . The opening show , BELIEVE , explores systems of beliefs and values through the work of 15 Canadian and international artists . Contributors include First Nation artist Jeneen Frei Njootli , Los Angeles-based artist Barbara Kruger , and Awol Erizku , whose works explore such topics as race and history . Ongoing The McMichael Canadian Art Collection partners with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival to feature the works of influential Toronto-based photographers who depicted hip hop communities from the 1990s to the early 2000s . More than 200 pairs of shoes and 80 drawings from Blahnik ’ s 45-year career explore the theme of shoes as art .
