What to do
One of the most interesting (and
educational!) ways to spend an
afternoon is at the Royal Ontario
Museum (100 Queens Park).
Here, you can peruse ancient
Egyptian artifacts, dinosaurs,
gemstones and more, explore
the hands-on galleries and even
sign up for a special ROMkids
Sleepover, which includes activi-
ties, museum access, a movie
screening and breakfast. Crafty
kids can partake in the family
programming at the Gardiner
Museum (111 Queens Park),
which includes clay-making
or tile-painting workshops
(check gardinermuseum.on.ca
for details). Afterwards, little
mountaineers can burn off excess
energy at the nearby Village of
Yorkville Park (115 Cumberland
St.) clambering around on a
650-ton piece of the Canadian
Shield. Finish off the day with a
visit to the majestic Casa Loma
(1 Austin Terrace) to tour the
decorated rooms and carefully
landscaped grounds. Don’t miss
the Casa Loma Escape Series
(escapecasaloma.com) where the
whole family can work together
to solve a mystery.

meal-sized dishes and snacks. In addition to the menu of hearty Italian
entrees for adults, Piano Piano (88 Harbord St.) has a nutritionist-
designed kid’s menu, plus a playroom and family seating area.
