Vikings : the exhibition
To Apr . 2 The Norse seafarers known as Vikings are commonly perceived as village-raiding savages clad in horned helmets , but their real history is much more complex . This exhibit shatters myths and stereotypes , examines the real history of vikings in Canada , and offers a contemporary look at their lives as explorers , artisans and farmers . the World of the Fatimids
Mar . 10 to July 2 The Fatimids oversaw a political and religious dynasty for much of the 10th and 11th centuries . Their empire , spanning North Africa to the Middle East , made staggering contributions to arts and science , including the world ’ s oldest university and one of history ’ s greatest libraries . This is the first exhibit of its kind in North America , featuring care fully selected marble reliefs and luxury objects such as rock crystal , ivory , lusterware and metalware . To May 13 Nigerian-born artist Emeka Ogboh explores how changes in the everyday sounds of a city — construction work , generators , street hawkers — can transform the makeup of a space and contribute to a society ’ s narrative . The Song of the Germans features the voices of African immigrants singing the German national anthem in a variety of mother tongues , including Igbo , Yoruba and Bamoun , each projected through an individual

Mar . 3 to May 27 To step inside one of Yayoi Kusama ’ s Infinity Rooms is to be transported . Through a mixture of mirrors and light , the Japanese artist creates works that are both mind bending and meditative . This exhibit features six such rooms , along with a selection of work from the legendary artist ’ s expansive career , including paintings , drawings , sculptures and posters .
