This independent and alternative
film fest returns for a third year
of drama, comedy, and experi-
mental cinema. Films short and
feature-length, from abroad and
from Ottawa’s backyard, will
air alongside panel discussions,
Q&As, and live performances.
This year includes Emergency
Broadcast (Dec. 2), a stop-motion
animated short witnessing a
nuclear fallout from inside the
Diefenbunker, and New Zealand’s
Tama (Dec. 3), about a deaf
Indigenous boy who dreams of
performing the traditional Māori
war dance while struggling to
communicate with his dysfunc-

than this? With a December
backdrop, tons of toque-wearing
spectators will cheer on the
Habs vs. the Sens on an outdoor
rink. The classic game harkens
to the first-ever NHL match
between the teams that played in
December 1917. The centennial
celebration coincides with the
new Ottawa Senators 25th an-
niversary and the Stanley Cup’s
125th birthday. Dress warmly
