FORTWHYTE ALIVE A rural oasis inside the city, FortWhyte offers more than 600 acres of aspen forest, tall grass prairie, scenic lakes, hiking trails and floating marsh boardwalks. The interpretive centre includes a Touch Museum as well as the Aquarium of the Prairies. Weekend programming includes cabin yoga, kids’ crafts, and interpretive walks. Visit the Buffalo Stone Cafe and gift shop on-site. Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm, Sat-Sun 10 am-5 pm. OAK HAMMOCK MARSH This thriving wetland is home to nearly 300 species of birds and wildlife. Friendly interpreters can assist you in exploring marsh, meadow, tall grass prairie, lure crops, willow shrub and aspen-oak bluffs. Gift shop and interpretive centre on‐site. Programming includes decoy carving, children’ s craft workshops, astronomy evenings and trivia nights. Mar 27-31: Wild, Weird and Wonderful shows off the fascinating creatures found in the marsh with each day featuring activities, movies, games, and crafts highlighting the many species that call the marsh home. ASSINIBOINE PARK Enjoy a walk, bike, or ski on this park’ s many trails. If you have little ones in tow, be sure to visit the magical Nature Playground. Covering 153 hectares along the Assiniboine River the park is also home to the Conservatory, Zoo, English Gardens, Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, Lyric Theatre, Tudor-Style Pavilion, Pavilion Gallery, Pavillon Event Centre, Qualico Family Centre and Park Café. Park is open 24 hours daily. BIRDS HILL PROVINCIAL PARK Located a half hour from downtown Winnipeg, this prairie park offers a beach, ranch and recreational activities. Self-guided trails are marked by signs, while guided trails follow a brochure available from the park office. Daily admission $ 5 annual pass $ 40. Gates are open from 7 am-11 pm. KILDONAN PARK Kildonan Park is home to some of the oldest and largest trees in the province. Within the park, visitors can find Hansel & Gretel’ s Witch Hut, walking and bike trails. If there’ s snow on the ground, find some skis or skates to enjoy the park’ s groomed cross-country trails and ice skating rink. ST. VITAL PARK This urban green space runs along the Red River, providing scenic cycling and hiking trails. A boat launch area makes this a hub for city boaters. A tranquil duck pond is home to many species of waterfowl and transforms into one of the city’ s largest outdoor skating rinks when the temperature drops. 190 River Rd, Map 2: F-4

PAN AM POOL Built for the 1967 Pam Am Games and revamped for the 1999 Pan Am Games, this pool boasts one of the largest indoor bodies of water in the world. Three pools( including a great kiddie pool), two weight rooms and an indoor track.
