His new album, The Last Rider, was recorded at the Tragically Hip’s Bathhouse Recording Studio, and Canadian greats like Leonard Cohen and Gordon Lightfoot have heavily influenced his “content, nostalgic, and personal” sound (page 30). May 24 - 27 One of the city’s most prominent arts festivals is also the largest celebration of theatre for young audiences in Calgary. The outdoor stage in Olympic Plaza hosts free, live entertainment, while shows such as the musical stylings of internationally- renowned kid-hop artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will take place in various theatres at the neighbouring Arts Commons. From music, dance, and acrobatic performances to science demonstrations and student workshops, there’s something for kids of all ages to enjoy — including the young-at-heart (page 30).
