They usually have a live band that plays later in the evening to help you celebrate being Irish. Firefighters Museum of Calgary Which restaurants are a must-try for visiting foodies? Bar Von Der Fels (page 49), though I am a bit partial as it is so close to us at the Fairmont Palliser (right around the corner). This intimate new restaurant is wowing taste buds all over the city. The team at BVDF will not disappoint, though it is a popular place so ask your concierge for assistance in making a reservation. Where’s a good place to spend a rainy spring day? I am by no means a musician, but I love the National Music Centre (page 32). The building alone pleases the eye and the contents will fill all your senses. With Rosso Coffee Roasters in the lobby level, to the sound booths and the interactive “Sound Box”, you can easily spend an afternoon exploring your inner rock star. Where’s your favourite place in Calgary for live music? Mikey’s Juke Joint (page 42), you always have a wide variety of live music to choose from. It is a perfect casual atmosphere with some tasty bites for before or during the show.  More than just Dalmations. 4144 - 11 Street SE www.calgaryfiremuseum.com 12 where.ca MARCH/APRIL 2018 Where would you send a devoted history buff? I enjoy The Military Museums (page 30) here in town, they have a great selection of tanks, aircrafts and boats. My two children love going and exploring. If you are up for a drive, a little over two hours south is the UNESCO World Heritage site Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. It has a beautiful visitor centre filled with so much historic Indigenous information and gorgeous vistas, but be careful of the wind; hold onto those hats!
