When Heroes Disappoint | Page 120

To quote the bible , which they are all familiar with : ‘ which of you , if your son asks for bread will give him a stone ? Or if he asks for a fish , will give him a snake …’. These politicians give their voters rocks and venous serpents every day without flinching .
The inflated budgets are so huge , on purpose , so that the only way to balance them is to borrow and since these pickpockets are interested in getting their loot in foreign currencies , their appetite for external loans is insatiable .
The government usually borrows to fund development projects with a clear outcome on the borrowed funds carefully thought out in advance . Not so in Kenya , the loans are theoretically tied to ghost projects .
Ochieng wonders why the docile Kenyans haven ’ t asked where all the loans that the government has borrowed have gone since there are no projects to show for them and Kenya has resorted to relaunching launched projects .
This is the question the Gen-Zs were asking when Kenya was rocked by government threatening demonstrations which on the eve of its success was scuttled by an unlikely savior who morphed into an anti-hero on a dark horse .
To resort to cliches , the saying goes that if you find yourself in a hole it is good idea to stop digging , why is Kenya continuing to dig the hole that it continues to decry as the reason it is in dire straits , looking for taxes from overtaxed people and threating to sell public jewels .
What is described above is a prelude to the abomination that follows as Kenyans wake up to the reality that what they thought was , isn ’ t and what is , is a far cry from what they thought they bargained for when they woke up early to exercise their democratic duty .
Blood has been shed and countless people abducted and subsequently disappeared but we are praising the government for having resolved a problem that they created and had no intention of addressing until the demonstrations took place .
Kenyans are thanking the government for restoring stability by forming an unholy alliance with their former foes by creating their broad-based government which the current administration had sworn never to be part of .
The deputy pick-pocket is now being vilified and being offered as the sacrificial lamb to atone for the sins of the chief who after embracing the former foe feels confident enough to ditch the erstwhile major shareholder in the current con government .
The former foes are breaking their legs to extol the virtues of the same man that a few weeks ago they could not find any saving grace . John the Baptist is now a tribal bigot who is bent on dividing a ‘ unified ’ country under the wise leadership of a liar .
Because he has given Kenyans a respite from the ravenous tax ogre that was targeting their incomes and paychecks , Zakayo is now a reformed man who has ‘ listened ’ to his people and for the time being the refrain of ‘ wapende , wasipende ’ is on a back burner
The glorified leader is once again globetrotting explaining that the ‘ minor ’ incident was nothing more than what you would expect in a robust democracy and was a result of fake news and misinformation . The casualties are regretted .
There are rumblings of disquiet due to the numerous scandals that are surfacing involving shady international figures like Adani , whose actions even in his own country are a subject of government scrutiny as he is accused of fraudulent activities .
Why would a person just emerging from a political crisis want to associate himself with international characters of questionable repute . Yet the choir praising his actions and trying to demonstrate the benefits to Kenya is already rehearsed and singing .
Some of the loudest soloists are those who just a few weeks ago were calling him a thief and a liar at the forefront of ‘ Ruto must go ’ refrain . Today they are the architects and construction managers of his erudite vision and main defenders .
Difficult as it is to believe , they are even praising the Universal Health Care proposal that is shrouded in mystery including why there is need to register people who are already registered and the paucity of information being shared .
Kenyans are told and they did know that NHIF was a corrupted system , but why not root out the corruption or is it that a new cartel wants to supplant the old cartel so a new registration is actually necessary to oust them from the gravy train .
As they continue to rape the country , Kenyans are grateful that we have gotten back our precious peace which was not disrupted by the Gen-Zs but by government hired goons who were hindering a legitimate democratic expression .
They are grateful that the government has recalled their hired goons and even though they know that these goons killed their sons and daughters and are at present being taught to eat with forks and knifes for a job well done .
Zakayo is now touring the country and getting rave reception because he has incorporated the local pick-pockets into the government and the voting robots are happy that now their man is sitting on the table to plan how to disenfranchise them .
How do you even have a last word on a people bent on cheerleading a bunch of pick-pockets that are bent on oppressing them . How do you free a man who is fighting you because you want to deliver him from slavery .
Kenyans are quite happy to be slaves with one paltry meal rather than free with the ability to get three square meals so long as peace is maintained . The leeches that lead them know this and any agitation for freedom is always met by a threat of violence .
So , the circus of politicians stealing our taxes and giving it back to us and borrowing money that we shall repay as we shower them with fawning gratitude is not about to end anytime soon as the pickpocket and the victim have formed a stable eco-system .
This however will end one day . The day we expose the pick-pockets . The Gen-Zs showed us how !
