Course Name: Animal Science Technology / Biotechnology Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Basic Agricultural Science OR General Horticulture and Plant Science( 70 %+)
Description: This is the third course in the Horticulture and Animal Science Pathway and the second course in the Agriscience Systems and Agriculture Leadership in Animal Production Pathways. This course is designed to introduce students to the scientific principles that underlie the breeding and management of agricultural animals, and the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural animal products. This course introduces scientific principles applied to the animal industry; covers reproduction, production technology, processing, and distribution of agricultural animal products. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities. Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) for the Horticulture and Animal Science Pathway to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.

Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Basic Agricultural Science, General Horticulture and Plant Science OR Animal Science Technology / Biotechnology( 70 %+)
Description: This is the third course in the Agriscience Systems Pathway and the second course in the Agriculture Leadership in Plant Science Pathway. This course introduces students to the scientific theories, principles, and practices involved in the production and management of plants for food, feed, fiber, conservation and ornamental use. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities. Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) for the Agriscience Systems Pathway to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.
Course Name: Agribusiness Management and Leadership Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade rd
Prerequisites: 70 %+ in any 3 level Agriculture course AND teacher recommendation
Description: This is the third course in the Agriculture Leadership in Horticulture, Agriculture Leadership in Animal Production, and the Agriculture Leadership in Plant Science Pathways. This course provides a foundation for students interested in pursuing a degree in agribusiness through post-secondary study or to enter the agribusiness industry upon graduation from high school. The student will demonstrate competence in the application of principles and practices of agribusiness management and leadership. The course will help students build a strong knowledge base of the agribusiness industry as they study agribusiness types, business management, financial analysis, communications, agricultural law, leadership and teamwork, ethics, and agricultural economics. Mastery of these standards through project-based learning and leadership development activities in the FFA and supervised agricultural experience program will help prepare students for post-secondary study or entry into agribusiness. Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) for at least one pathway to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.
