Description : This course is designed as an integrated and global approach to science and technology . The concepts in this course focus on the links between living things , their surroundings , and the total environment of the planet . This course will integrate the study of many components of our environment , including the human impact on our planet . Students will investigate the flow of energy and cycling of matter within ecosystems , and evaluate types , availability , allocation , and sustainability of energy resources .

Prerequisites : Physical Science ( 70 % - 84 %) OR Environmental Science ( 70 % - 94 %)
Description : This course is designed for students to learn and understand biological functions and systems on the cellular , genetic , evolutionary , systematic , and ecological levels . This course provides students the necessary skills to be proficient in biology by focusing on the identification of patterns , processes , and relationships of living organisms . These standards include more abstract concepts such as the interdependence of organisms , the relationship of matter , energy , and organization in living systems , the behavior of organisms , and biological evolution . Students investigate biological concepts through experiences in laboratories and field work using the process of inquiry . Students will be prepared to an End-of-Course Exam . Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course .

It provides students the necessary skills to be proficient in biology by focusing on the identification of patterns , processes , and relationships of living organisms . These standards include more abstract concepts such as the interdependence of organisms , the relationship of matter , energy , and organization in living systems , the behavior of organisms , and biological evolution .
