And lastly, achieve for yourself as much as you can, and look for the day you are able to give back. I was not lucky enough to be one of those folks that had a settlement trust fund, or military involvement or anything that would ever take care of me financially. Therefore for many years, I struggled to barely get by with whatever job I could get, and whatever little charity came my way from people and organizations that wanted to help me because they saw potential in me. After years of struggling and hard work, it is my proudest achievement to be able to provide for myself and my family with what I can produce on my own. And in kind, I now relish the opportunities I get to help mentor young people, get in involved with charities that share equipment and opportunity for needy folks around the globe, and simply be in the position to lend a hand when someone needs it.
Never be afraid to take advantage of an opportunity, you never know what it will eventually lead to. Remember, continually having things handed to you, or expecting someone else to always do things for you can become a crutch and impede your personal development. They say you can reach enlightenment, or even transcendence, through suffering; I have yet to experience those yet, but through daily struggle and survival, I feel I have achieved many of my goals.
