Letter from the Executive Director
Message from the Executive Director,
Happy New Year! Welcome to the January edition of Wheel World News. It's hard to believe that 2019 is upon us. A new year always brings about the opportunity to reflect on the past and to look forward to the future. The New Year is a chance to start fresh, a time to set goals or to make changes. We have many things to look forward to in 2019 at AZSCIA and we hope you will join us at our upcoming community events.
This month, our Spotlight Story is focused on our Living Healthy with SCI Educational Series. For our Winter 2019 class, we have domestic violence survivor and author, Heather Grossman, leading a discussion on dealing with domestic violence after injury. You won't want to miss this class and to hear her story first-hand. She will also have copies of her book, "Paralyzed in Paradise" available for purchase at the class. To read more about the class in February, visit pages 3-4. If you are wanting to become more involved this month in the SCI community, there are plenty of events happening this month that could help you with that. Read about
all the upcoming events happening this January in the Current Events section on pages 5-6. For this month’s “Consumer Corner” segment, we are highlighting Sarah Hochstetler. Read her personal story on pages 9-10. For our featured professional for this month, we highlighted Clayton Guffey with AzTAP. Be sure to read how he contributes to the SCI community on pages 11-13. Throughout this edition of Wheel World News, there are various articles that are great reads, we hope you enjoy!
Our newsletter is for you, our community. We would love to hear how you think we could improve, change, or add to our newsletter. We are interested in anything you would like to share or comment on so please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].
As always, thank you to everyone who supports the Association throughout the year, we truly appreciate each and every one of you! Lets have a wonderful year!
