return to life after an injury. The return to driving process for a person with an SCI can be complex and costly. Through RSA and the program I was with I was fortunate to have access to funds and support services to make this possible for these young persons. In the years after I left RSA I have encountered consumers that I have worked with and they have relayed to me how appreciative they were of my assistance with this and how important driving was to their adjustment to life after a SCI.

The last 25 years of working in social services, with AT and with persons with disabilities has taught me to appreciate life, the things and the abilities you have because life can change in an instant. It is truly rewarding to be part of the team that assists an individual with a disability with increasing their independence in whatever way that is meaningful to and important to them. Today at AzTAP the most rewarding aspect of my work is seeing AT in usage. Nothing is more rewarding than getting that first phone call, email or a visit from a person because the AT you assisted them in getting is making it possible.
