Letter from the Director
WHEEL WORLD NEWS
-Shannon Carter
Message from the Executive Director,
Welcome to the October edition of Wheel World News! I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the September events in honor of National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness month. With plenty of events coming up in the Fall season, it will be easy to keep up the involvement. You can read more about the upcoming events in the community in the following pages.
In the Spotlight Stories section of our newsletter, you’ll find information about two of our favorite fall events, Wheeling in Nature and the Miracle League of Arizona’s "Let's Play Ball!" Adaptive Baseball Game. To learn more about these events and sign up, please visit pages 2-3. If you are wanting to become more involved this month in the SCI community, there are plenty of events happening this month that could help you with that. Read about the October events in the Current Events section on pages 4-5. To learn more about future events including the Tempe Light Parade and a brand new quarterly event we’ll be hosting called “Karen’s Craft Corner.” To learn about these events and more please see pages 12-13. For this month’s “Professional Profile” segment, we highlighted Sharon Malone, who shares her story about how she contributes to the safety and empowering of the SCI community. Read her profile on
pages 8-11.
Our newsletter is for you, our community. We would love to hear how you think we could improve, change, or add to our newsletter.
Are there topics you would like more information about? Are there activities you would like to know more about? What kind of stories do you enjoy reading about?
