(frozen shoulder). I am a mother of 3 who are now ages 8, 10, 13. My primary focus from Day 1 in recovery was to be back to my supermom status of juggling it all by myself. Here we are now almost 6 years post injury and now I Equip, Empower, & Educate others to protect themselves against attackers. I started this because my biggest fear while recovering was how was I going to protect my children now that I’m in a wheelchair. I couldn’t just jump out of bed if someone broke into my home. I couldn’t run after someone if they kidnapped by children. It was an awful feeling and I decided to do something about it. Safety awareness is key to overcoming fear & winning. You should always know that you’re life is worth the fight.
Individuals with disabilities are 2x more likely to be attacked than those that are able-bodied just for the shear factor that we appear that we can’t defend ourselves which is absolutely FALSE. I have been able to participate in wheelchair self defense class sponsored by AZSCIA and a former police officer. I obtained my CCW (concealed carry weapon) license from AZ Home Defense that was also sponsored by AZSCIA with instruction from former military officer. I have taken a self preservation class that has taught me jujitsu maneuvers from a wheelchair & target shooting practice classes each month sponsored by “The Next Step Peer Mentoring & More” group. been on ABC News discussing statistics of sexual assaults during a Rape Awareness Defense class through the City of Chandler Police Department that is offered for free. That was a humbling experience with mothers and daughters training together to fight off attackers. As you can see with all the training I have done that I am NOT weak by any means & I have the warrior mindset that will prepare me should I ever be faced with a violent attack.
On top of offering free Safety Awareness classes, I equip people with tools to deter an attacker from striking me or someone I care about. This includes stun guns, pepper sprays, personal alarms, tactical pens, and a new product that is a rape/emergency whistle with 130 decibel sound disguised as a fashionable necklace.
