Letter from the Director:
Message from the Executive Director,
Welcome to the November edition of Wheel World News. Now that fall has begun, holiday season is just around the corner and there are many fun events and activities to be a part of in the cooler weather. Inside this newsletter, you will find some great ways to get involved. On page 2, you will find our Spotlight Story: The Tempe Fantasy of Lights Parade. On November 26th, join AZSCIA in the festive parade to pass out candy to the kiddos. Lets make this year even bigger than last year! It will be the perfect kickoff to the holiday season. We hope you'll join us spread some holiday cheer. On pages 8-9, you will also see the announcement for our new educational series: Living Healthy with SCI. This is a monthly educational series that will provide healthy living tips and various practices to help improve your quality of life. Be sure to register so you don't miss out on this great opportunity!
I would like to thank everyone who joined us for our 3rd annual Wheeling in Nature in Cottonwood, AZ. This year was a success with over 35 people in attendance. To read more about our 3rd annual Wheeling in Nature, check out page 3. If you were not able to join us this year, we plan on hosting our 4th annual Wheeling in Nature in fall 2017. We hope you'll join us next year!
Since 1999, the AZSCIA has continued to grow with the same goals in mind; provide resource facilitation, educational opportunities, peer support services and quality of life programs for those with spinal cord injury, their families, caregivers and the professional who work in the field.
I encourage you to stop by our office to say hello or give us a call anytime. Please let us know of any suggestions or ideas you may have to improve current or future quality of life programs. We truly value your opinion.
Sincerely,
Shannon L. Carter
Executive Director
