Holistic Preparation
Find out how chapel, golf, physics, and more have prepped
Alexa Tyler ’15—mind and spirit—for a career in medicine.

hen Alexa Tyler visited Wheaton,
she was struck by the rich content of the
chapel services and the way the entire
campus migrates to chapel three times
a week together. Interested in pursuing
a career in medicine, she felt she’d
also found a place where she could grow
in Christ.
Last year she served as one of four
student chaplains appointed annually
by the chaplain’s office. Part of this role

students who come forward during

direction—a practice she hopes
to continue as she heads to medical
school next fall.
Chaplain Emeritus Stephen
Kellough ’70 explains that student
chaplains are selected for their spiritual

apart was her “consistent demonstration
of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, especially

This joy is evident to many around
her—including Janet Moore, Wheaton’s
women’s varsity golf coach.
“What stands out most about Alexa
Tyler is her radiant smile,” says her
coach of four years, adding that she’s
also a “tremendous leader.” During
her first women’s golf conference
