Tradition SWEDEN Christmas in Sweden By Johanna In the morning: Most people wake up early in the morning this day because the Christmas day is very special and everybody is a bit tense and full of expectations. When you wake up you step out of your bed and open some Christmas gifts. You relax and everything is smooth, calm and cozy. Outside it is hopefully snowing, it makes the Christmas feeling even stronger if the ground is full of new white snow. You might eat some candy to breakfast because this day you are allowed to eat as much candy as you want. Grownups will probably eat a real breakfast meal with porridge and sandwiches though. During the eating you watch the last episode of the Advent Calendar, especially if you are young (or at least childish). The Advent Calendar is a television show with 24 episodes. The last one is always sent o n t h e 2 4 t h o f D e c e m b e r, d u r i n g Christmas Eve. Every year there is a new Advent Calendar. In Sweden one of our biggest celebrations is Christmas. We celebrate Christmas Eve in the 24th of December and most of the swedes celebrate this Christian tradition. I will now try to explain how we celebrate in Sweden, because I think that our Swedish Christmas traditions look a bit different from other countries´.
