The Royal Flying
Doctor Service
So much a part
of the Outback
RFDS
MISSION STATEMENT
“To provide excellence in
aeromedical and primary
health care across
Australia”
The RFDS transformed life
in the outback. Through
their service they provide
emergency medical care to
thousands of people every
year. How big is their
‘practice’? Well their
waiting room is 71.5 million
square kilometres.
With their fleet of aircraft,
dedicated nurses and
doctors they save lives.
Flying in and out of the
outback is not without its own
problems, one of which is no
usable airstrip. When this is
the case, the road is it!
