Michael Jackson Is Not God
Dig if you will a picture: Saturday night and you’re sitting at your computer with a pint of Chunky Monkey, checking your various dating profiles to see who has winked, clicked, poked or thumbs-upped you.
Two hours and umpteen losers later, you notice a new “wink”.
No picture but a profile that reads: 50 years old, balding, skin condition, two kids, twice divorced. Has he
ever been arrested? Yes. For what? He’d rather not say.
So, as my teenage son would say, would you holla or nah?
Most of us would pass faster than you could say “Sh’mon.” But if I ask, is this the profile of an angel, you
would be right to say no because it’s not. It is a profile of Michael Jackson.
Many of us on Team MJ take the human being to be a mystic creature. To us, the supernatural talent
that made him untouchable in life has elevated him to the status of supernatural deity upon his death.
Have you seen the artwork with Michael Jackson nailed to a cross? How about the King of Pop with a
halo and angel wings? I’m usually a pretty open-minded person, but that has my Christian selfscreaming WHAT THE WHAT?
