HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS Rachael Paulson’s - Hands On The World Global I pointed to the murals handprints talking about the hands of the children who had no parents and must drink from mud holes along with animals each day. I pointed to the handprints of the grandmothers of the villages who must walk 6 hours a day to seek out water and talked about the strength of these amazing women. I also spoke about how the mural was a magnificent reflection of the world working as one as the hands were mixed with those in need and those wanting to help to change the world. I wanted to connect to that audience and I did. I was the only speaker who got the audience to applaud in this very quiet and conservative setting. One day, Dr. Patrick Treacy called me from Dublin to ask me if I would be interested in helping him bring ideas to a village in Haiti that was in need of water. I had no idea this was a Michael Jackson related project and so I did not speak about my mural and my theme song of my non-profit “We are the World.” The children in my villages would learn to sing this song. Dr. Patrick Treacy was a good friend to Michael and also one of his doctors. We got to know each other with emails and he told me he was an ambassador to a fan group base that did good works in Michael’s name. He told me there was an orphanage opening in honor of Michael Jackson in Haiti and I was invited to come to this intimate gathering and also take a look at their need
