in Atherton r i o h C s y o B National With thanks to The Arts Council Tablelands the National Boys Choir of Australia, perhaps recognised by most Australians from the iconic Qantas television commercials, will be coming to Atherton on Sunday, September 25. The Choir is one of the oldest children’s choirs in the country, having celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2014. Choristers have been involved in major events such as the Sydney Olympics, the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, The Three Tenors Tour, André Rieu’s Australian tour and Carols by Candlelight from the Myer Music Bowl for more than two decades. The Choir also regularly performs with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Opera Australia. Sunday Sept 25 Held at Destiny Hall, Jubilee College, Loder Street in Atherton from 7pm, the 42 choir boys repertoire includes works by J.S.Bach, John Rutter, Angels are Everywhere by American composer Daniel Pinkham and choral selections from Les Misérables. The Choir will also sing ‘that’ song from the Qantas commercials as well as Australian folk songs. Queensland Symphony Orchestra The Queensland Symphony Orchestra is proud to visit Atherton to perform a program of wonderful music including Vivaldi’s best known piece, the popular Four Seasons, and other great works for string orchestra. In Vivaldi’s time, orchestras commonly performed with a violinist directing instead of a conductor. The performance follows this tradition with QSO’s concertmaster, Warwick Adeney leading the QSO Join us for live classical music on a grand scale.
