. . . And then there was the time my little boy had a fever. For 10 long
and virtually sleepless days I sat by him, on the couch, on the floor, in the
shower, in bed as the fever played out its mysterious journey through
his fragile little body. Prior to this his fevers had only lasted 2-3 days
max! So by day 5-6 I was starting to worry! Back to my text books -
"what have I missed - Yarrow tea, give him Yarrow tea, can't - won't
drink anything. Homeopathics what do I know about homeopathics?
Belladonna, Nux Vom - calls homeopathic friend - "is he convulsing?
Yes, won't drink?- Yes, cracked lips - Yes yes yes - Belladonna - gives
Belladonna - no change! 8.30pm - day 8 of intense unrelenting fever-
mummy what's this? Hand full of blood - nose is bleeding! Far out
- breathe Laura, he is bleeding because he is so dry and dehydrated -
Textbook, should I take him to hospital, Mum, universe? I decided to
call long time friend and mother of 5 - "what do I do?" She Replied with
a steady experienced "everythings going to be ok" voice - stay with him,
hold him, just be by his side - let this fever do its job.
On day 10 his fever finally broke and as he re-emerged into this world.
Laura & Jet
I realised I had just witnessed a right of passage, he was a changed little boy, a little wiser, a little more peaceful
and seemed to understand a lot more about himself and this world he is in. So my wisdom to you- grab your
mums, dads, sisters & brothers, wise men & women and tell your stories, share your wisdom and experience
so it is not forgotten, but rather restored in the hearts and souls of mothers everywhere so they can remember
their strength when it comes time to be a wise woman mummy.

New Mac Update
you have a disconnected backup of everything you need from your
There is an update coming for Mac computers called High Sierra
that is going to change the file format your computer uses. This is a
really good thing because it will make it faster and more compatible
with USB drives. The new format is already being used in iPhones
and iPads and with the upgrade to the Macs all Apple devices will be
computer. There is a risk if something goes wrong while updating
you could lose everything during the formatting of the main hard
drive. I also suggest unplugging every USB drive you have plugged
in while updating for the same reason. The risk is small but it's much
better than losing all you photos or files.
