Nerdy For Nails Minion Madness Create a quick & easy minion nail art design With the upcoming release of Despicable Me 3 at the end of the month we need no more excuses to show you this design which you can proudly wear to the premier. Used in this design: BarryM WetSet Quick Dry Top Coat, Superdrug - £2.99 Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine By Rita Ora - Daisy Days - £2.99 Top Shop Matte N ails - Dungaree Dream - £6.00 Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Hi Shine - Chai - £3.99 Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Pink Slip - £6.99 1 2 Paint your entire nail with a thin coat of yellow nail polish. You may need 2-3 thin coats to get it fully opaque. Make sure to let each coat dry completely before continuing on to the next step. 4 3 Create a french tip with a dark blue polish. The easiest way to this is to rest both hands on the surface you’re working on and keeping the brush still while rotating the finger you are painting. 5 Using a dotting tool make two large dots in the centre of the black line with grey polish for the minion’s goggles. You can also make Stuart, the one-eyed minion, by placing only one large dot in the centre. 6 In the same way as in step 5 use a dotting tool to make two slightly smaller white dots in the centres of the grey dots. This creates the whites of the eyes. Don’t be afraid to experiment! Try changing the main colour to yellow or grey and use your favourite style. Make your nails unique and all-your-own. You can also do this with a nail art brush if it is too tricky with a normal nail polish brush. To complete your minion design, place two smaller dots in the centres of each of the white spots to create the pupils and with a stippling motion move across the centre of the nail to draw the mouth. Nail artist, Tanya Andrade, has these tips and tricks to get an amazing mani every time! - File & shape your nails. Make sure your nails are the same length on both hands - Cuticle care is important. Push them back before you paint - Buff the nail nicely to give you a smooth surface to work with - Clean your nails with nail polish remover before painting. Your polish will stick better and your manicure will last longer - I love using cuticle oil at the end, it makes the skin appear really looked-after Whateva - Issue 1 21
