What the Thunder Said Vol. 7 | Page 7

Every day I see you

When I search through my closet each morning

Running my hands through the clothing that hangs

I always pause when I feel you

A tattered thing you are

Together we’ve seen the harsh nights,

cold breezes, and sudden delights

I wore you like a second skin

When I was uncomfortable in my own.

You make me feel a safe embrace.

Your blue color has faded,

Your fabric has gone coarse to the touch

The once sweet waft of vanilla, now nowhere to be found.

Though I say I miss the good days

Fresh out of the box when you arrived to me

It fills me with a overly whelming joy

Because the more that I wear you and wear you down

is the closer I feel to the one who is not around.
