What the Thunder Said Vol. 7 | Page 38

I have never understood

Why people say:

“Your voice is like a melody”

It always seemed cliche to me

I think I understand it now

Because it’s so obvious that when you talk

You hear music in place of your voice

We ask you about your day at dinner and

The music swells and there you stand

At center stage

The lights are on

We fade away

My friend and I sit at the table

Listening to you

You don’t even stop to take a breath

Although why would you if you were convinced

That your voice has captured our attention like nothing else could

When your song is over

You take a bow

The stage lights are blinding but you think that in the shadows of the audience

You think that you see me smiling

You think that I liked your melody

I am still sitting at the dinner table

My friend and I have started our own conversation

Quietly so as not to disturb you

You slump in your seat

It’s rude to talk during a performance

Performance of a Lifetime
