Prologue
“What if” scenarios have always sparked an interest with me! I guess it comes to me being creative and my fondness for using imagination. With these scenarios there is no right or wrong answer. The focus is the design of critical thinking skills. Making predictions, using inferences, making observations the whole inquiry of the question depends on your opinion.
As children, we often make imaginary friends and other scenarios when we are playing. It is just a phase, is what most adults say. Research shows that using imagination is vital for understanding reality. Pretend play also plays a healthy role in the development of children’s cognitive and social development.
Our students use their imagination in every subject we teach. The analysis of understanding historical events for example is a time where our students will use their imagination to make connections of the past. We teach how there were no cell phones or televisions, and immediately our students are thinking about their personal lives if they did not have those things.
I picked my topic because I am interested if there is life on other planets. Books, comics, cartoons, movies, television shows, and more have created its own concept of life on other planets. I am curious to know how each of our lives would be different if there were another form of intelligent life out there in the cosmos.
I often look up at the sky on a clear night, and just get lost at the beauty of what my eyes see. I invite you to continue reading and explore with me, as I try to answer the question, What if Life Exists on Other Planets?
