2016 has been an exciting and successful year!

Eighty-five anxious girls arrived on the first day of school, full of anticipation for the new year. They were very excited as they lined up on the astro, because they knew via emails the day before, who their new teacher would be. We started off the year with a new teacher, Miss Tuckniss, who was also excited and anxious having to meet her new class for the very first time. The girls had to get used to their new desks, having classes upstairs, different line-up procedures and a much bigger work-load.

Grade 6

The year kicked off with the an overnight outing to Rocklands which was a highlight, as everyone got to spend a few days outdoors in really beautiful surroundings.
Academically our girls have learnt a lot as we have covered many diverse themes. Some interesting topics were electricity, photosynthesis and space in Natural Science, and deserts and rainforests in Geography. In History we learnt about medicine and the Renaissance, and we went to watch“ Ice Age 5”. In Mathematics we were introduced to decimal fractions, percentages, square numbers, the product of prime factors and who can forget, Fibonacci!
In Afrikaans we sent e-mails, wrote poems, visited a restaurant and translated songs which produced hilarious results. We even got to watch episodes of“ Heidi van die Berge”. English is where we covered awesome themes such as“ Famous people” and“ Lights, camera, action!” where the girls got to shoot their own adverts. We also wrote articles and read books about tsunamis and heroic pigs.
Grade 6 is an important year and the girls benefitted so much from the dynamic teachers who have patiently taught and guided them. All in all, 2016 was a successful year and we wish the girls well with Grade 7 and their future endeavours.
