My First
Camp Experience!
When I heard my teacher say we were going on camp, it wasn’ t just me who was excited, everyone was excited and screaming at the top of their lungs. There was only one thing that bothered us, we had to wait all the way until the 4 May!
As camp approached, I started to get a little bit nervous as this was the first time I was going on camp, however this feeling soon went away. When we were on the bus, we had a lot of fun. We were all singing and laughing on the bus. I had lots of fun at camp, however we also learnt a lot of new and exciting things. We learnt how to keep our environment clean, about the animals in Jonkershoek, the history of the area and how to work as a team. We played hide and seek at night in order to learn about how animals protect themselves by camouflaging.
My highlight from the camp was when a man from a zoo came and taught us about the many different types of animals that he brought with him. My one friend cried as she was so scared of the animals. One of my brave friends had a tarantula crawling on her face and I got to experience a snake around my neck! The funniest part of this event was when the man put a cockroach in his mouth! This wasn’ t a pleasant sight. The obstacle course was also fun and challenging. We did many different activities at camp, which made it such fun. It was my favourite Grade 5 experience.
