Founders’ Day
Flag Raising Ceremony
The 132nd Founders’ Day Flag Raising Ceremony was one to remember as we had a special guest of honour Miss Vera Lawton, past principal 1960 – 1988. We held our heads high as she took us through our history. It was a day when we remembered our fellow Wynberg sisters, those who have passed through our gates and those who are yet to come. We gathered side by side, celebrating our beautiful school, its history and unity.
We stood with pride as our sisters from Grade 8, 11 and 12 of Wynberg Girls’ High School, past pupils of all ages, our campus principals, WCED and SGB members joined our assembly.
We were treated to a lovely song,“ The Wynberg Way” by our Grade Rs, followed by a thought-provoking and inspiring speech by the Head of School for 2017 at Wynberg Girls’ High, Jessica Stephens. Our choir entertained us with a beautiful song,“ Wakati wa Amani”. The school song was sung with great enthusiasm, drawing our special assembly to a close. One must not forget about the delicious doughnuts and ice-creams which were happily enjoyed by all.
Our U13A hockey team triumphed 1 – 0 over the WGHS U14A, who were winners of the inter-schools U14 league.
“ In love we serve our school today, as those who’ ve gone before. May those who’ ve yet to come this way, serve Wynberg ever more.”
