Our school really had a wonderful year helping out in the service pillar. We loved the fact that they separated the girls in their houses when there was a charity drive. It was truly a success as it encouraged the girls to work harder. It was very interesting to see how competitive our girls could get. We hope they continue to make us proud, because we know they’ ve got spirit.

Collecting Easter eggs for the patients at Red Cross Children’ s Hospital and girls at St George’ s Home for Girls was a good way of making us aware of how fortunate we are. We did our best to get the girls to realise why the donation was important. Constantia ended up collecting the most Easter eggs. The staff of Red Cross and St George’ s Home for Girls were very appreciative of our efforts and they informed us of how excited the children were.

Knitting for the‘ Wool for Wonders’ campaign was lots of fun! At the beginning there were a few difficulties as some girls did not know how to knit. But they soon learned as the Grade 7s taught the younger girls during break times. This was a lovely opportunity to make new friends and ensure we did not get bored during the school holidays. In order to earn points the girls had to bring in a 15 cm × 15 cm knitted square. These squares were stitched together to make blankets for the less fortunate. Kirsten accepted the challenge and collected the most squares. Well done Kirsten! Thank you to all the girls and families who contributed to this initiative.

Silverlea

Being the head of Silverlea has been a huge honour, even more so after we won the pet food drive. We collected food, blankets and toys for the animals that are in the care of Plum Pets. Thank you for your generosity. The best was that a few girls were chosen to go to Plum Pets and play with the animals that were benefitted from these items. It was a humbling experience.
