Computer Report //it’s up to you ... if (youWant() === true) { youCan(); } else {youCant();} Do you understand this? If not, speak to a Grade 7 learner. This year, they learnt to code using Python Code. This is one of the “languages” for computer programming that programmers in the industry use. Our Grade 7s have shown immense perseverance, problem solving and logical thinking as they learnt to work in this new language. With coding being our focus for the year in computers, we have had fun problem solving on coding programs from Grades 2 – 7. Our younger grades have learnt to code using the more “hands on” BeeBots and STEM mouse. It hasn’t all been hard work though, we have also learnt to program using robots. During our robotics unit, our girls had fun “instructing” BeeBots, Sphero, Lego Mindstorms, Codybot and a number of other fun robots to follow routes or do tasks. As Steve Jobs once said “Everyone should learn how to code, it teaches you how to think.” Mrs Katrina McFarlane Back (L – R): Isabella Flint, Carys Jordaan, Riley Wesson Front: Mackenzie Maggott, Mr Anton Moisey, Mrs Katrina McFarlane, Caitlin Pillay Absent: Chloë Kröhnert 14
