Standard Project Report 2016 • • • Strategic Objective : Save lives and protect livelihoods in emergencies (Strategic Objective 1) Outcome : 1.2 Stabilized or improved food consumption over assistance period for targeted households and/or individuals; 1.3 Restored or stabilized access to basic services and/or community assets Activity: Food assistance for assets In 2016, WFP helped to rehabilitate community assets including damaged agricultural land, feeder roads, mountain trails and bridges during the one month period of the project's operation. Food rations consisting of 400 grams of rice and 60 grams of pulses per person per day were distributed to beneficiaries for food-assistance-for-assets (FFA) activities completed in three earthquake-affected districts: Gorkha, Sindhupalchowk, and Dolakha. Pending FFA activities in 2015 were carried over to January 2016. WFP typically implements cash-based transfers in two instalments. During the CR-EMOP’s third phase, FFA beneficiaries indicated a strong preference to receive their full entitlement for the third phase in one instalment, as a lump sum of money would enable them to begin rebuilding their homes or re-start their livelihood activities. However, for this purpose, project participants had to have completed 40 days of FFA work. By 31 December 2015, there were 27 of 30 workdays remaining for beneficiaries in Sindhupalchowk district, and the final cash transfers had not been completed in Nuwakot district. Hence, the balance of workdays and cash payments was carried over to January 2016 for both Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot districts. Nepal, State of (NP) 18 Single Country EMOP - 200668
