14 WESTERN PALLET
To the Best Recyclers in America
Frank Stanford, National White Wood Sales Manager at CHEP USA, has announced his retirement. We at WPA will miss Frank, who was a regular attendee of the WPA Annual Meeting and a staunch WPA supporter. Frank sent out the following note, which we are delighted to share with WPA members.
Good Morning,
Yes, the rumors are true. I’ve decided to call it a day and retire. My last day at CHEP will be next Monday, Oct 3rd.
figured it was about time after I went to an antique auction and three people bid on me. My family is happy for me, although after 25 years at CHEP, they still have no clue what I do. It will be a big change, especially since my wife told me she was going to find her a man that had a job! I’ve heard that some folks retire and then die, fortunately it usually doesn’t happen on the same day. And people keep asking me what I’m going to do with all that free time so I’ve given it some thought. The first day I’m going to get up early and take a long drive. I’m going to drive real slow to make everybody else late for work.
Seriously, I’ve had a good run at CHEP. I couldn’t ask for more. You have helped me along the way and I’ll forever be grateful for that. I hope I’ve helped you along the way as well. I won’t bore you with a long speech, but I’ll share this with you. Long ago, I was boy scout. We went camping, hiking and fishing many times. On the last day when we broke camp, we’d always pick up any trash around the campsite, even if it wasn’t ours. Then we’d gather a lot of firewood, not for us, but for the next group of campers. We did this because the #1 rule was “Always leave your campsite better than you found it”. . . . I hope I’ve left the pallet industry better than I found it.
Looking ahead, I’d love to hear from you in the future, that would make my day. My ph # will remain the same 901-857-8313 & my personal email is [email protected]
God bless you all,
Frank & Dawn and a dog named Doc
