Good sign? Pallet maker plans big expansion
The Pallet Factory plans a $3.5 million, 43,000-square-foot expansion that may say as much about the economy as it does about the 42-year-old Memphis business.
“We’re typically a pretty good first indicator of how the economy is doing,” company president Wes Doyle said Tuesday. “Ninety-eight percent of everything we touch or use in a day at one point was shipped on a wooden pallet.”

The company has applied for a building permit to add a 40,000-square-foot factory warehouse and 3,000 square feet of office space at its headquarters, 3740 Arnold Road. That site is just west of Getwell in the city’s vast industrial district of Southeast Memphis. Read more.
