The Canadian Wood Pallet and Container Association (CWPCA) has announced the addition of Marcel Dawson and Michael Albright to its staff. The moves are aimed at further bolstering the association’s HT program and advocacy efforts, as well as providing additional technical and regulatory expertise.
Marcel Dawson has been employed as both an HT Program Inspector and consultant with CWPCA since January 2021 and is currently involved in several national and international projects on behalf of the association. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role.
Marcel has worked in the area of plant health regulatory programs with the Canadian Government for more than 35 years. He managed the forestry plant health programs at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for more than twenty years. Over that time, he has represented Canada on several international phytosanitary working groups, including Chairperson of the North American Plant Protection Organization’s forestry panel from 1997 to 2001, Canadian representative on the International Plant Protection Convention Working Group responsible for developing the ISPM 15 standard from 1999 to 2002, and the CFIA representative on the International Forestry Quarantine Research Group from 2017 to 2020.
